The cool calculations of an infamous eighteenth-century duo heat up Ark Theatre's Main Stage in Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons), directed by Paul Wagar. Christopher Hampton’s stage adaptation of the French novel by Choderlos De Laclos offers a deliciously wicked peep into the boudoirs of the aristocracy in pre-revolution France. In a decadent cat-and-mouse game of love and revenge, the beautiful Marquise and the cunning Valmont deftly manipulate those around them — including each other — as they scheme to seduce a virginal young bride-to-be and a pious married woman. The scandalous plot that unfolds leads to revelations about the human heart that are both chilling and inspiring
